Like most forms of technology, marketing is continuing to change and evolve. The use of media to target specific consumers or businesses has been in practice since media has existed, pushing classic print marketing into digital. That shift may not have occurred that long ago when considering the history of humanity, but digital marketing has managed to make massive strides regardless. The creation of the Internet opened up a whole new world for digital marketers to play in; email, social media, and the use of sophisticated programs designed to track consumer behaviors provided a new opportunity for businesses to reach out to potential customers. According to Forbes, 2018 makes the fourth — and most significant — shift yet.
Marketing In The Making
With advanced search engine tactics such as SEO services and the extensive use of search engine marketing (which includes PPC campaigns and keyword research), businesses can use tools already in place — like Google, which owns 65% to 70% of the search engine market share — to encourage and boost sales leads. In the past, the main goal was simply to advertise as much as possible (narrowing your demographic down if you could) and hope that one of your blind shots in the dark hits its mark. Companies would spend exorbitant amounts of money on television, radio, and print ads in the hopes that someone in need of their product or service would see it and give them a call; now, things are both easier and harder. For example, search engine optimization can ensure that the people searching for your specific products or services are basically hand-delivered your company’s website (and with costs significantly less than traditional advertising), but getting their attention is no longer the goal: you need to holdlong enough that they’re convinced your business is the best option for their needs. And that’s not as easy as it sounds. Consumers are becoming pickier, what with so many businesses cropping up offering the same products or services. The solution? Hire a digital marketing firm. Digital marketing firms thoroughly understand the system; they can formulate strategies that abide by the rules of the trade, particularly those that are heavily enforced (such as SEO and that in social media campaigns). Trust your company with the experts, and watch as business rolls your way.
